Taster

Taster session is always at the beginning of term; however, we welcome students all year round - so feel free to turn up to any of the sessions.

Ideal for someone who wants to give it a try before buying membership.

Beginner

In our sessions, beginners will learn the basis of Muay Thai. This includes how to use pads and working on simple combos.

Intermediate

For those students that are already familiar with Muay Thai and its techniques, the sessions will let them focus on more complex combos. Training will be more intense and will mostly involve sparring.

Competition

Students of sufficient calibre who wish to represent the university will be given the training and opportunity to fight in full contact tournaments hosted by the club or by other organisations.

Equipment
Do I need to buy my own gloves?

We advise you buy your own gloves if you decide to join Thai Boxing. We have a limited amount available in the club and will be more sanitary for you, as we are not able to clean gloves every session.

What size gloves should I buy?

For male members we advise you get either 14 or 16 oZ gloves (16 oZ are needed to spar in sessions), though smaller gloves are recommened for smaller hands.

For female members we advise either 10 or 12 oZ gloves.

What should I wear and bring with me?

We initially supply gloves for everyone if you don't have your own.

Our sessions are all barefoot, so all you have to wear are:

- t-shirt

- shorts/leggings/sweatpants

Also make sure you always bring a bottle of water with you.
